Trust and Believe

Trust

And

Believe.

Hmm.

Here is another old article, if you don't mind, but since Easter is upon us again it seems fitting.

I wrote it right before the Easter of 2013.

Almost a whole year ago.

Oy vey shmeer.

Oh, woe is me.

How times flies, eh?

When I looked at it again to blog it here it really reminded me, again, to just The Lord we will be alright.

It might not be easy but He will be there with you.

So I hope this helps you to remember that we all can do all things through God who strengthens us.

Morning, all.

Please to let me tell you about my morning thus far.

I woke up and went on Facebook this sunny Jamaica morning around seven to see what was what in the social network world that day and as I was scrolling down I came across a picture captioned "Trusting in God since 1776."

The picture had just some coins pictured on it and some of which said liberty but I knew that the caption was referring to American coins.

I thought to myself that I have not held American coins like that in a long while and wondered if I would ever touch them again.

I tweeted the picture with a simple statement that said "my country".

I tweeted it because America and I have always trusted in God.

Truly, most Americans trust in God.

And I needed to share that with the twitter world.

Then I went to eat some raisin bran and after the cereal I went to take out my garbage.

The man of the house, earlier that morning, had put the big blue garbage can at the road side to be collected so I had to come out of the yard to the roadside where the trash can was to dispose of my trash and as I walked to drop my trash in the can Kaboom, my little black and white shih tzu, followed me out.

Kaboom is used to me walking him across the road to assist him in his never-ending effort to mark across the road in an effort to piss off the big dogs that live across there so I dutifully walked him across the road as I normally would and leaned against the wall as he did his pissing off.

I was chatting on the phone with an old friend who had just given me 30 fresh, lush and vibrate palm leafs.

I had taken palms to church with me the previous Saturday to be blessed.

I am Roman Catholic.

Which means I'm a horrible sinner that is on a lifetime mission to try to be a holier person.

Trying.

Anyway.

I had taken the palms from my old friend so they could be blessed and used for the coming Sunday.

The coming Sunday being Palm Sunday.
Of course.

The blessed palms are to be given to the congregation to wave as they reenact the way the Jewish people heralded Jesus as He came into Jerusalem for the last time to be killed by those same people only days later.

But I digress.

Anyway, again.

As I was thanking my old friend for her palms I glanced around
And

My eyes landed here and there as I minded Kaboom, too.

Still leaning on the wall I looked down on the ground and saw something very shiny.

Looking closer my eyes saw shiny silver coins.

Shiny shiny coins sparkling under the bright Jamaican sun.

I stared in almost amazement at the coins that where just scattered there in the dirt that is the sidewalks of a lot of Kingston, Jamaica.

Wow.

Low and behold, there laying in the dirt were American coins and as I picked them up I also came across some Jamaican quarters and some Jamaican pennies.

And also in the dirt were two Cayman Island coins and one Jamaican gaming token.

I picked up all of the American coins, the Cayman Island coins and the Jamaican gaming token.

I then took a picture of them in my hand and then I took a picture of the spot on the ground where I found them with the Jamaican one dollars coins still laying there.

Jamaican one dollar coins are not even accepted at most stores.

No reason to pick up them.

At all.

Maybe I could have taken them up and made a copper shot.

But I didn't need any copper shot at that present moment.

hmm.

I called my little dog and walked back across the street and back in the yard feeling little lucky.

As I walked down the driveway with the coins jiggling in my hand I stopped short as I thought of the picture I posted an hour before that said "Trusting in God since 1776".

There I was, standing in the driveway, with the shiny silver coins from "my country" in my hand that I had just wondered earlier if I would ever hold again.
God had just given them to me.
Just like that.
Shiny American coins that I had just seriously wondered if I would ever live long enough to hold again were sitting in the palm of my hand.
The same way God has the whole world in His Hand.

All I hath needed Thy hand has provided.

There was the clear sounds of American coins rattling together in my hand ringing sharply in my now very attentive ears giving testimony to that fact.

The heavy American coins in my now almost trembling palm were a weighty reminder of the Facebook picture's caption "trusting in God" to me.

The first thought that had come to my mind earlier when I seen the picture was not of monetary value.

My first thought when I saw the coins the first time on Facebook was "Trust in God".

Standing in the burning bright Jamaican sun my feeling of being a little lucky burst into a feeling of immense luckiness.

My shiny silver coins suddenly became more valuable than gold.

They were a gift from my God to me.

The American coins would have mattered, really, only to an American.

No Jamaican person would think they were that special.
The coins were just about worthless at here.

I, an American, had found a handful of American coins that represented American and I trusting in God on a lonely road in Kingston, Jamaica, on a bright sunny morning.

After I just posted the picture of that same awesome thought less than an hour before.

The biggest coin, in my hand in the picture, was dated 1972.

It is called a fifty cent piece.

That year is special to me because of a personal reason.

So my finding the coins had an even more personal meaning to me.

American me in Kingston, Jamaica found a specially dated American coin after I had the privilege of posting that picture that reminded me to trust God.

When I think of all the times I leaned almost in that same spot I am amazed I never found them before but then I remembered that this was almost the beginning of Holy Week.

What greater time to tell us all to trust in God?

Wow.

I am blessed and apparently we all are.

Trust in God.

He cares.

To me it seems like a miracle.

Maybe to others it is not so special.

But

I prefer to believe in the promises of my Abba.

Hope you all have a wonderful Holy Easter Season.
The peace of Christ be with your and yours.
Bless.

Happy Place

My happy place.

My happy place is a wonderful place.

It is almost over the rainbow.

Almost.

My happy place is the Rockhouse in Negril, Jamaica.

I went there last year at a time in my life when I was going through a lot of changes and the Rockhouse helped change me.

The beautiful Rockhouse with its rooms perched on cliffs changed me as I did nothing.

The Rockhouse cliffs put my feet back on stolid ground after all the changes going on in my life had me feeling like I was living in a house built on sand.

The beautiful sea that crashed into the cliffs of the Rockhouse almost every second reminded me over and over again all day that God is great.

And that He is the Rock on which my house is built.

The Rockhouse reminded me more vividly that all that God did He did perfect and that I was wasting my time in a house built on sand.

And all this happened at the Rockhouse on the first night.

I was lucky enough to stay in two different villas on that vacation.

Both were wonderful but the first one was atop of a cliff that jutted out and allowed the sea waves to slap almost all around the entire cliff with such a force that I trembled at God's awesome magnificent power.

It was a beautiful room.

With the prettiest yellow quilt on the bed.

The private balcony was sitting high above the water in an almost dizzying way.

After checking in and checking out the lovely enclosed compound and dinner it was bed time.

Time to go to sleep perched on a cliff where the higher night waves seemed to reach almost up to me.

I did not really sleep from the sheer power of the sea waves slamming all around me that night.

I was frightened but oddly enough I wanted to feel the forces of the deep blue Caribbean Sea even more that night.

I craved a storm to come and bring with it even more crashing destructive waves.

I wanted to feel even more of God's extreme power.

I could already feel the normal waves shaking the whole villa but I wanted more.

I had a deep need to feel the life of the seas reminding me that I was still alive.

But the clear dark blues skies showed that no storm would be coming.

And thank goodness because as the night got deeper the waves' power steadily increased and the might of The Lord had me in fear.

The crashing thundering waves beat all around me and even in my real fear I started to feel excitement.

The sea's power was amazing.

And it did not stop or take even a small break.

Wave after wave after wave slammed and slammed into the limestone.

I could feel the sea.

I felt it shake me and the mega-ton cliff as if we were children's toys.

It was exciting.

It felt passionate.

It made me feel completely alive, again.

Nothing could have been a better reminder of what being alive meant.

Nothing else but the sea's sheer power could have reminded me that having life is awesome.

And nothing else could have reminded me better of how awesomely powerful my God is.

The mean sea and the shaky cliff showed me that I am fragile.

And the only thing keeping my fragile body out of the strong, merciless and deep sea is God's love for me.

I could never withstand what nature gives out on a regular day.

Let alone what it gives out on a stormy night by the sea.

The waves slamming into thousand of tons of limestone would pulverize me.

That cliff will never out last the water.

So as I lay in the Rockhouse's beautiful villa's bed covered in their pretty yellow quilt I was excited.

And I was made aware that God made this all and that life was a blessing but there is no stronger Rock than God to build my house on.

That first night in my happy place I came back to full life.

I had reached the Rockhouse half alive it seemed and in the one night that I stayed in the first room surrounded by God's powerful passionate power I came back to living totally.

I didn't really sleep that night.

The powerful waves slapping quickly, randomly and ferociously all around my personal little cliff never allowed for a night's sleep but I was the better for it.

The non-stop waves slamming into the cliff without a pattern to follow kept reminding me all night that all I am is dust in God's wind.

The frightening force of the water explained a lot to me that first night in the Rockhouse.

The constant thundering booming noise the Caribbean Sea waves made as they hit against the limestone cliff sang me almost a lullaby of life as I did nothing but lay in the big mosquito net covered bed.

All night it sang songs of how exciting life can be.

All night it sang songs of how mighty God is.

All night the waves sang songs of how fragile I am.

And all night God reminded me of how strong He is and how sweet He is because I was so safe in His arms and alive.

I love the Rockhouse.

I wish I could live there.

A Miracle

I went to a beautiful private beach in St. Mary, Jamaica yesterday morning for some Hash thing.

A Hash is sort of a maze that you can, either, walk or run.

I didn't do the hash.

Hmm.

I went snorkeling instead.

My snorkel set is so awesome that when I looked up out of the water I was so far away from the beach I thought I was going to be pulled away never heard from again.

And I was, also, petrified that sharks would attack me in the deep waters I found myself in as I swam for my life back to the shore.

I made it.

By a miracle.

I thought I was a tasty hot blooded meal for a set of razor sharp heartless teeth for sure

Or that

I was going to end up in the middle of the deep blue sea and drown.

Once I went to the island of St. Thomas and the tide pulled me out and I knew I was dead.

I couldn't even swim against it.

I knew that I was dead.

Honestly.

But my Heavenly Father made a wave appear and it slapped me on the beach so hard on my back that the air rushed out of my lungs.

I was basically dead before that.

No amount of swimming I did was going to ever get me back to that beautiful sandy beach in St. Thomas.

Only a miracle sent that wave to slapped me on that beach that day.

The water doesn't care about you.

I knew that so long ago in St. Thomas.

I rediscovered that, again, yesterday.

Unfortunately.

Yesterday I was so scared but I blocked it out and just swam away from the deeper shark filled water because I didn't know what else to do.

I feel cold now, though.

My blood just ran deathly cold as the memory of it hit me.

I feel like I'm going to start hyperventilating.

Seriously.

I was so scared.

Now I even more scared.

I feel cold at the real fact that I was almost dead.

Again.

The thought of where I was when I looked up is so scary to me now that I feel faint.

Seriously.

Let's be careful out there.

The water doesn't care.
